  • PhD abstract

Regardless of the increasing number of knowledge acquisitions, practice shows that most acquisitions fail to meet expectations. Apparently, acquiring a firm with valuable knowledge does not guarantee that the knowledge will be successfully transferred to or combined with the resources of the acquirer. Creating a better understanding of the micro processes of knowledge sharing between the employees of the companies involved in knowledge acquisitions would help understand why knowledge acquisitions fail and how to manage more successful knowledge acquisitions. The aim of this research is to add to this knowledge by addressing two questions: ‘which conditions and tools enable knowledge sharing in knowledge acquisitions’ and ‘how can organizations use their knowledge regarding these conditions and tools to manage the process of knowledge sharing more successfully.
