Christoph Grimpe is an assistant professor at the Chair for Entrepreneurship at the University of Zurich, Switzerland. Moreover, he is a project leader in the department of industrial economics and international management at the ZEW Centre for European Economic Research in Mannheim, Germany. He received his PhD from WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management – in Vallendar, Germany, and holds an MA in political sciences and an MBA from the Catholic University of Eichstaett-Ingolstadt, Germany. His research is focused on topics in open innovation, entrepreneurship and international business. More specifically, he has worked on the impact of firms’ search strategies for innovation performance, the role of innovation for the internationalization of new ventures, and the importance of location and regional characteristics for innovation and entrepreneurship. In addition, he serves as a policy advisor and consultant to the European Commission, the German government, and various industrial firms.
